The Weapon Of A Jedi Knight September 29, 2008 55 out of 55 found this review helpful
Being a Star Wars fanatic and at that age where grown men become boys again, I find myself reviewing the Clone Wars ultimate lightsaber construction kit. Without babbling on about how wonderful Star Wars is and its universe that George Lucas created, I'll get straight to the point. There are 18 pieces to this kit, including 3 coloured crystals that give a lightsaber blade its colour. In this case it's down to clever electronics and the crystals you instal inside the hilt (the main handle) are just part of its charm in the world of 'pretend'. The idea is simply to build your own lightsaber to your liking or build one to replicate a favourite Jedi, or member of the Sith. You can build Mace Windu, Yoda and Count Dooku sabers by following the illustration on the back of the box and then change and swap the hilt sleeves, handles, end caps and sleeve rings to create your own. The only problem I have with this kit is that the lightsaber itself powers down after 30 seconds (having to switch on again isn't such a chore, though), whether to save battery power on the main unit, or maybe it's a fault with mine, who knows? The plastic used is very strong and attaching the bits and pieces is easy enough - they either push on and click into place or screw on and tighten which is great. Flick out the telescopic blade, switch on and begin your duel. It claims that over one thousand combinations are possible with the 18 pieces available - I'm not so sure that's possible, but the imagination of a child expands far beyond that of an adult, so perhaps the world of make-believe fused with George Lucas' masterwork of imagination will make this kit a worthy young Jedi's essential purchase.
Overall I'm happy to announce that the force is strong in this one...
