elmo not alive for long December 3, 2008 the toy is fantastic !!!! my little girl loved it and did not want to put it down after one day it was broken the motor stoped working in one of the legs and it would fall over . not put off by this i sent it back and got a new one that only lasted for one week and my little girl was so very upset great toy but not durable at all.
I just don't get it... November 16, 2008 9 out of 13 found this review helpful
My 2yo daughter was bought one of these as an early Xmas present.
I just don't get the incredible overwhelmingly-positive reviews that this thing has received. I mean, I know elmo is somewhat more ingrained in to US culture than that in the UK but overall, the toy is a) expensive and b) of limited appeal. Specifically it's hard to understand what he's saying sometimes, there are a limited number of actions/speec programs and apart from pressing his stomach/foot/nose/back etc, I can't see how this is going to last beyond a few days. I'm not into being the arbiter of my child's toys - but at 50+ I am seriously considering selling this and getting something more worthwhile (daughter hasn't yet got to play with in in earnest - yes, maybe she should be the judge but, seriously, I can't see a future). But in the meantime, I'm confused... The reviews are so consistently good I'm either missing something or stuck in a cultural gap or there are a lot of Fisher PRice underlings out there puffing up this item.
Just do me one favour: play with one before you drop your cash. 50 is no tiny sum. And it buys a lot of books/puzzles/etc.
Yes, technologically impressive-ish (if you can ignore the sound of whirring motors that drive this toys movement). Will surely eat batteries, though. And hey, just not that much fun.
elmo rocks November 11, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I must say that I am not easily impressed but Elmo is absolutely the best toy ever I am 46 years of age and have to keep reminding myself that this little guy is not real.
BEST TOY EVER!!!! November 4, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have never been so impressed. Looked at Elmo in the shop but it doesnt do him justice. He laughs, tell stories and jokes, dances, stands up and sits down on his very own stool. My 18 month old daughter is facinated by him (I am too). BEST TOY EVER!!!
So Much Fun !!! October 30, 2008 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
We bought this for our son's 2nd Birthday and he thinks it's brill. He laugh's and talks to elmo as if he is real. Our eldest son also thinks it is very funny. Just a shame he only tells two stories! He does sing and dance which is also great, but the way he tells stories is the best.
