Amazon.co.uk Review Re-live those happy childhood memories of watching Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin's classic series Bagpuss with this pair of musical soft toys, which are just as likely to appeal to a new generation of Bagpuss devotees. The duo is fronted by head honcho Charlie Mouse, who is kitted out in a blue gingham suit with a natty blue polka-dotted tie. He's ably supported by Lizzie Mouse, resplendent in a long dress with fuchsia pink bodice, full pink floral-print skirt with broiderie anglaise trim, pink floral-print sleeves and high yellow collar and bustle. They both measure approximately 17 cm (seven-an-a-half inches) high and are made of soft grey plush with grey felt paws, machine-embroidered eyes and have a knotted cord tail. Lizzie and Charlie are sponge clean only. Fans of the series will recall the mouse belief system encapsulated in the phrase "Mice not sing--mice not work"--and these mice love to sing! Squeeze their tummies and you'll hear their famous "We will mend it" song as featured in the programme, in their authentic piping tones. Squeeze the tummies of Charlie and Lizzie simultaneously and hear them sing the song as a (slightly out of synch) murine duet in rodent stereo. The pair contain batteries, which the manufacturer recommends as having an average life of six months, although unfortunately these are not replaceable. Please bear in mind that battery life will be considerably less if they are in constant use. --Alison Drury

Only four??? July 10, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I first saw Lizzie mouse in a toy shop and being a big fan of Bagpuss from the first time round I couldn't resist buying it. Since then I've also got Charlie in the natty gingham suit, Millie with the white cardigan and Willie in the fetching red trousers and flowery jumper. However, I'm sure the programme had 6 mice???? I can't for the life of me find any more than these four for sale anywhere. If anyone knows where the other two can be found then I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one who'd love to know!
YOU CAN CHANGE THE BATTERIES!!! October 17, 2004 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
DON'T THROW AWAY YOUR OLD MICE! JUST CUT OPEN THEIR BOTTOMS, SLIDE OUT THE CLOTH BAG, CUT THAT OPEN, UNSCREW THE TINY CROSSHEAD SCREW AND REPLACE WITH 3 AG13 OR LR44 BATTERIES. THEN SEW THEM UP AGAIN. I HAVE DONE THIS SEVERAL TIMES WITH MY LITTLE BOY'S ONE AND I AM SURE IT WILL WORK FOREVER! ALL THE BEST, PAUL
Irresistable mice December 24, 2003 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I ordered a pair of mice for a thankyou prezzie and was so impressed and amused that I THEN ORDERed more , BOTH for myself and for other presents . If you remember fondly the mice on the mouse organ who came to life when Bagpuss woke and endeavored to mend all sorts of broken toys while singing their mouse fix it song , then you should really treat yourself to these brilliant toys . Alternatively buy them for a special lady because any woman can't help but love these cute singing rodents.
Just fab! September 1, 2003 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I'm trying not to wear out the batteries, which can't be replaced :( but these little mice are adorably addictive.
More fun than I care to admit :o) October 19, 2002 54 out of 56 found this review helpful
The only reason I have rated this toy with only 4 stars for durability is because you cant change the batteries - and trust me EVERYONE will want to hear them sing! For pure nostalgia for adults or enjoyment for children who have been introduced to bagpuss they're worth a look. Mine live on my desk at work and now need new batteries #pulls a face# Francesca 28 - and a half
