Amazon.co.uk Review
In a nutshell:
The surprise hit of 2005 is back and this time it's moved on from the prequels and onto "proper" Star Wars. It may sound like one of the worst excesses of marketing hell but this is good enough to rejuvenate your love for both video games and Star Wars (and Lego)!

The lowdown:
As ridiculous as the idea sounds this is one of the few games that really can be played by all ages, from tots to grandparents - the game even adjusts its difficultly level on the fly depending how well you're doing. The graphics are absolutely hilarious as the game pokes gentle fun at all the films and characters and uses the Lego motif so you can build new structures and objects as you go. With more playable characters than ever each now has their own special move, such as Chewbacca's ability to pull the arms off Stormtroopers, and you can get in and out of vehicles whenever you want in some levels.

Most exciting moment:
The game features a large number of vehicles to drive, including landspeeders and AT-STs. You can also ride a Dewback which excretes an ominous looking brown Lego stud if you press a button...

Since you ask:
The all important two player co-op mode from the first game is still in the sequel, plus you can now design your own characters out of component Lego pieces. Darth Greedo, anyone?

The bottom line:
The Force is strong with this one.
Harrison Dent

5 out of 5 stars Don't be a cynic - play it!!   January 30, 2008
Ok.. so this game sounds childish and silly - just for 3 years olds right? Wrong.

I am 28 and my partner is 29 and we are addicted. Its brilliant!! It takes aaages to get all the achievment points and there's just tons of super fun game play here. It's not too easy (I was worried that it might be) and its not too hard.

Positives: The amount of characters, levels, ships, minigames and the sheer fun value you get out of this game, whether playing it alone or in co-op mode. The star wars lego cut-scenes are hilarious!

Negatives: not many to be honest.. depth perception can be difficult. Sometimes the camera angles can be awkward. In co-op mode you cannot sign in with a second profile and unlock the achievements for both. Only player one will get the credit. The levels with the ships can be a bit chaotic...

All in all this is just brilliant, I was really surprised.

2 out of 5 stars Fun to play...Incredibly Frustrating To Save!   August 30, 2007

I like this game a lot. It's a laugh to play as you go through the various famous Star Wars scenes and stuff as a Lego character (the Lego Boombox that blasts out a heavy metal version of the Imperial March, making Gamorrean guards rock out is one of the best things I've seen!) However, I find trying to save your progress in this game EXTREMELY frustrating! For some reason when you clear a chapter and your autosave kicks in, it doesn't save your progress properly and you end up right back at the Mos Eisley cantina when you reload your game. Not cool.

I plan to keep playing this game and figure out what's going wrong, but that in itself is something no gamer should have to do. In short, great game, LOUSY saving system!

5 out of 5 stars A great game for the family   August 20, 2007

What a lot of fun! Simple to play, thoroughly enjoyable and the storyline is faithful and easy to follow (assuming you have seen the movies). My 5 year old loves it and I love it. Great for two-player cooperative play, with lots to do and explore.

OK - If you want blood, guts or deep tactical thinking, look elsewhere. But if you are looking for a game that you can play with a big childish grin on your face then this is the one for you. More games like this please!

4 out of 5 stars As fun as it is frustrating.   July 2, 2007

I purchased this game as I loved the original, it was just so unique and a follow-up based on the original trilogy was an instant purchase as far as I was concerned. Absolutely nothing beats this game in terms of unlockable items, modes, characters, etc. The amont of new stuff you can unlock by playing through will keep you busy for hours alone. The improvements made from the last level are great too - I felt at first that having all characters being able to build and use melee attacks weakened the jedi characters, but they're still quite formidable - Especially as they're the only characters that can block. The additional force moves, and character spefific actions are also tons of fun to watch and come in handy, although I did miss the long jumpers from the original game. A lot of mini-kit collections could've been a lot easier with them!

The main reason this game doesn't get a five is because of how utterly frustrating it is at times. While the new free-roam element to the vehicle levels has taken the frustration out of those levels, the constantly respawning Storm Troopers and sometimes akward camera angles take a lot of the fun out of the average levels. I feel that one of the key strengths of the last game was that you were free to explore - To wander around, unhindered, looking for unlockables. In this game, however, in some areas you feel pressed for time and constantly rushed through thanks to re-spawning enemies. The camera angles, while annoying, can also throw you off when you're trying to jump - Which doesn't bode well when you're after the Undefeated Achievements.

Overall, I think this game is great and had a lot of fun playing it when I first got my Xbox - However, some minor faults mean it's not as good as it could be.
