Product Description
Medal of Honor: Airborne retains the Medal of Honor series' historical accuracy and authenticity, but redefines Medal of Honor by introducing players to an entirely new way of experiencing a WWII FPS - notably the fully interactive Airborne experience. Medal of Honor: Airborne sees players step into the boots of Boyd Travers, Private First Class of the 82nd Airborne Division and engage in battles throughout Europe. From Airborne's rocky beginnings in Sicily to war-winning triumphs in Germany, each mission in this latest Medal of Honor begins behind enemy lines, with a fully interactive airdrop. View the entire operation from the air, and then control your parachute to choose your landing spot. On the ground, gather your senses and assess the terrain and earn those war medals! A wide variety of authentic, customisable weapons are at your disposal, each with distinct characteristics. Choose your path in Airborne's free roaming FPS environment. Medal of Honor: Airborne continues to ensure that the ideals and integrity of the prestigious congressional Medal of Honor are accurately reflected in the Medal of Honor game series. The producers sought counsel from expert sources to make certain Airborne is historically accurate and as true to the WWII Airborne experience as possible. Serving as a military spokesperson for Medal of Honor Airborne, Capt. Dale Dye, who has worked as the Military Technical Advisor for the last 7 Medal of Honor games, has helped create a truly authentic Airborne experience.

It may be the game that popularised the whole concept of first person shoot `em-ups set during World War II, but as the years have gone by, the Medal of Honor series has found itself besieged by more and more copycats trying to offer ever more realistic simulations of the era. This is the first Medal of Honor game made specifically for the next generation of consoles though and finds you taking the roles of both pathfinder Eddie La Point and Private Boy Travers - paratroopers in the U.S. 82nd Airborne Division. As such, you'll end up with a whistle stop tour of enemy hotspots in Sicily, France, Holland and Germany. The game takes its paratrooper motif serious too as the game levels are big enough that you actually have some control over where exactly you land and as a consequence what tactics you choose to employ.

The game also tries to give you as much freedom as possible with the weapons you use, with each being customisable with authentic parts which you can find during missions. Even the missions are as open ended as possible, as you're given up to a dozen objectives, of which only a few have to be tackled in any sort of order. One side benefit this creates is that the developers have been forced to drastically improve the enemy artificial intelligence so that they can react intelligently to your attacks, instead of just relying on the pre-scripted movements of the earlier games. There's also a stronger tactical element than ever before as you monitor the back and forth of battle between all the forces on the map. As over-familiar as WWII shooters have become, there looks to be enough new ideas here to keep even the most jaded virtual soldier happy.

Amazing game but it is hard it is one of the best games out there if you play it and you have the HDMI cable it is even better.

It took me a week to finish and I cant remember how many times I was killed on the last level which by the way takes a while.

5 out of 5 stars Loved It Recommended.   November 1, 2008
Depends what you look for in a game. I really enjoyed this. The graphics were excellent and gave a real feeling of place. AI enemies don't come on and on for ever as some others have written, when you clear some move forward, this encourages you to keep moving as in a real war and not just sit there taking pot shots. The game saves everytime you complete an objective. Some folk have moaned about the Nijmegen bridge level, yes it's hard but when you play as its supposed to play it is very satisfying when you complete it and great fun.
I like the way the ememy soldiers run around looking for cover and even get behind you, chaos just like in a real war but play it right, use the cover and it's very enjoyable.
Yes there are a few glitches, e.g the occasional dead soldier hanging in mid air but it doesn'y detract from the game. Some of the battlegrounds are stunning and real works of art, such as the train yard level and the battles in Holland. The weapon upgrades are a nice if not essential touch.
The multiplayer is interesting to, parachuting in to a level rarther than spawning means you can land on roof tops but it also means the germans can shoot you as you parachute to the ground. Very enjoyable though.

If you are a fan of WW2 shooters then you will love this, at the price it is now it is a steal.
Don't be put off by some of the negative reviews, some people want the moon on a stick. I really wonder about people who reckon the graphics are poor. Play this on a decent size HD TV and it looks wonderful.

4 out of 5 stars Mixed bag but generally excellent with some absolutely stunning levels!   July 24, 2008

For:
1. The graphics and sound are on the whole stunning, as good as any game out there at the moment, and I must mention one particular map, the town in the Market Garden level, truly awe inspiring. The huge amount of detail that went into that map is absolutely astonishing!
2. The controls are perfect, natural to use and smooth. This is the only game I've played where you can dip and duck up and down, left and right, peak over and around walls and object by just swivelling the stick. It's easily as good as the cover systems used in such games as Gears of War, Ghost Recon, and Rainbow Six Vegas.
3. Parachuting is a nice way to get into a level and feel more natural than just spawning somewhere.
4. Modelling is excellent of both characters, textures and weapons. Everything looks fantastic.
5. Fights are immersive and challenging and a lot of fun.

Against:
1. My biggest gripe with the game is enemy spawning. Enemy will spawn indefinitely until you move forward past an invisible line. Forget tactics, eventually you have to just run in to a barrage of bullets. This makes some parts of the game tedious and pointless, turning the game into a fair ground shooting range. What is the point, for instance, of having a sniper rifle and snipping from a tower if you never clear an area?? This one factor put me off buying the game until it came down to a reasonable price (I got it for 15).
2. Bafflingly, a lot of the time head-shots do not kill and the further on in the game the more apparent this ludicrous choice the developers made becomes?? Head-shots should almost always be an instant kill.

Conclusion:
I haven't played COD4 yet so don't know how it compares (and COD4 doesn't have any cover system which puts me off) but MOHA is a great game, which looks and plays fantastically most of the time and is a top Xbox 360 must-have game with plenty of replay value. I haven't played the multi-player much but it seemed to be as good as most multi-player games I've tried on the Xbox 360

2 out of 5 stars Unbelievebaly horrendous!   June 23, 2008

First person shooter is the only range of games i play (although i game a bit on Fifa and NFS aswell), and indeed, i've played every single one of them including all the Medal of Honor games. now, to be brutaly honest, this was the worst MOH game i have EVER played and i'm desperatly dissapointed! this game doesn't stand a chance if you compare it to other next generation games such as RSV:2 or CoD4. everything about this game is crap! the gameplay just doesn't work as there are millions and millions of germans, and throughout the game, you are basically fighting on your own. the enemy AI just don't stop coming and the only way you can finish the mission is not but killing the enemy, but by trying to just run as quick as you can to the checkpoint! the sound and graphics are not very good either and can be very very annoying! the storyline?!! hehe! unfortunately there is no such thing in this game, nor there is any character development as you progress! you don't even get to know who you really are, which is not something that would happen in a classic MOH. you die very quickly and oh my god!! im gonna smash the disk now! everytime you die, you have start the WHOLE MISSION all over again!! can you believe that?!! i strongly recomend you, DO NOT buy this game. wait for brothers in arms: hell's highway and buy that instead!

2 out of 5 stars 3 shots to the head anyone?   June 19, 2008
HI all

i bought this game awhile back but never really got into it at all, but then i decided i should (well after my wallet is 40 lighter).

This game is a joke, basicly the enemy AI resembles that of a 2 year old, they ethier look right at you and just odnt do anything, or they run around like head-less chickens. and worse than that is your useless (wait) USELESS (much better...) excuse for a 'team' they might as well not have botherd coming to war.....im SO happy todays armys arnt like this, or we would be in alot of trouble.

your 'Team- mates' (and i use the words VERY losely) will run infront of me while im shooting some blind nazi who cant see me 2 feet away, and will start complaining when a spray of hot-lead wash's his back, well im so sorry your to stupid to notice when someone's fireing a tommygun.

the enemys range from the realistic german foot-solider to the more sci-fi space marine super dooper killabot 9000 troop or well 'storm-trooper' well he wears a gas-mask and holds from what i can tell some sort of heavy machine-gun, no not a normal gun, a huge gun, a gun that no normal human should be able to carry on his lonesom. and the best part about them is they have a really good tendancey to be bullit resistant. yes! 3 sniper rounds to the head will (odd's are) NOT kill him.

the parachuteing to the ground part is a great gimic for a while untill you realise EVERYTIME you die you have to do the whole 'jump out of plane' part again....and again...and again...

the graphics are quite nice and tend to fit in very well (bar a few obvious bad design choices) the character models look ok, but arnt anything to go all wowey over. this game can be fun to WW2 FPS fans but besides that anyone else might find it a tad boring or pointless, then again im sure when any WW2 fan see's some of the enemys you will have the same reaction my mate did "what is THAT supposed to be!?"

and by the last level when your attacking some kind of DOOM fort i wouldent have been to fazed is hitler showed up with a platoon of tiger tanks and blew us to narnia and back....

try this game if you've got the spare cash, but beisides that any long term MOH fan might be hugley let down.

---wierd carrot---- thats my gamertag if anyone want's a game or 2 of COD4
