One of the best games around, and the best graphics ever seen on a console September 6, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Whilst not continuing with John Mullins as the character, nor being made by the same people who made the previous two SOF, this is still a very good game. The game doesn't have many cut scenes and you never even get to see what the hero's face looks like, but it more than makes up for it with action.
The first thing that will impress you is the graphics, especially when you get to the jungle missions, the weapons rock, they aim easily and have a nice feel to them, the AI aren't very bright and are basically cannon fodder, but can still put you down if you aren't quick on the draw. Like all previous SOF games you can rack up a lot of kills, although I'd say this game is a lot shorter, and has less enemies than previous SOF games; but SOF 2 seemed to go on too long in my opinion.
The game comes into its own in Donetsk: the brothel, the parking garage and then the nightclub missions are unreal, and the enemies kill you with one shotgun blast, so if you're playing on hard you're in for a real challenge on those levels, while the game is easy, you will want to play a level higher than you normally do on action games, I'd say Hard in this game is the equivalent of normal difficulty found in most other games. As for the gore, the game also gives you the option to turn the gore off in the options menu, if you don't like that kind of thing.
If you are into action games then this is a real steal right now at this price, so give it a go. I'm looking forward to the sequel, I hope they don't change a thing, this game was great fun.

A brilliant game.
If you like fps games with a LOT of gore and BRILIIANT graphics (some of the best i have seen for the xbox 360) then this is the game for you.

For a start this has no pretense of being like any other modern shooter so stop the comparisons. But this is not a good thing its budget in every sense of the word. If you have played the othe soldier of fortune games then my title will make perfect sense, the first was brilliant the second was a bit shoddy but somewhat engrossing but this just slips further down the quality ladder. its not a massive slip from the 2nd game and some ways its better (graphics, smoother game play in general)but it just feels quite frankly retarded. yes its very gory and the first game capitalised on that while being fun at the same time, whereas this dosnt quite get there.
The weapon customisation and choice is very good, more games should be like this in terms of variety of weapons but thats where it ends. its fun for the first few levels but it then becomes very tedious to mow down the fully destructible fodder that is the enemy as there is no skill of any kind involved, (strafe and shoot and your done).
i wanted to like this and i tried hard to, i was looking forward to it but its just didnt cut it, its easy and short, worth a rental whene your done with any othe game but no more unless you can pick it up cheap. it wont annoy you that you spent money on it but it will remind you how and why other games are better and more worthy of your cash.
It' s the best January 24, 2008 8 out of 12 found this review helpful
Many people bang on about how fantastic Call of Duty 4 is yes it's pretty good, but this is a proper game of mindless violence. For example if you have seen The Holy Grail by Monty Python you will probably remember the classic clip where Arthur King of The Britons if fighting the Black Knight. Just as Arthur dismembered the knight you can also do the same it this game, honestly when you shot both arms of a soldier and the blood is pouring out it is very funny. Another one is to blow a soldier head of clean with one shot. Definitely a game for adults and not for children. Buy it it's a laugh.
its got gore nothing else !!! January 3, 2008 8 out of 11 found this review helpful
was looking forward to this game for along time and yes was impressed with the gore level but 10 mins into the game lost all interest in it. the graphics are good and the way the ai bleeds out and still try to kill you when shot is cool but you soon realise it is all there is. the game is very repetative.you get the feeling this game was knocked up by the designers whilst sat on the toilet no effort or thought has been put into this game.the red splash of blood that pops up on the screen when you get hit followed by a painfull grunt from your character gets really annoying.you get hit by enemy fire when behind cover you always get spotted you cant scope ahead to take out distant enemys because they only appear as you move to that section of the level so no enjoyment taking out enemys with a cool silent distant kill which is a shame when you do get a really cool sniper rifle.weapons arent realistic a shotgun can hit you at a distance you dont expect to get hit from as its only short range.the last 2 bosses in the game will take all 3 weapons ammo you have to take down and to waste them you simply stand from a distance target them and spend the next 10 mins tapping the trigger BORING!!!!!!and unrealistic he aint wearing a full bullet proof suit.the game is extremely short the sound is dull and you get no reward for completion of the game a waste of money and time.hire it dont buy it.
