1 out of 5 stars Boxing fans avoid this game at all costs.   July 8, 2008

I wanted to like this game sooooo much ..... but it is very bad and poorly created. It doesnt play well at all and in every regard it is vastly inferior to EA's Fight Night series. Unlike Fight Night, Prizefighter is not fluid at all in gameplay, the control system is poor, and it appears that no effott has gone in to creating a realistic and enjoyable boxing sim. Every boxing fan should avoid this game as it will only dissapoint.

In every video game magazine this game got a poor review. Now normally I will always test a game myself instead of relying on reviews I read .... but believe me, every review I have read on this poor game has it absolotely spot on. This game sucks .... and sucks big-time.

The game looks ok and the presentation is acceptable, but there is nothing else positive I can say. The control system is shocking and plays like a mere button-basher. The response of the controls is equally bad. No attention has been paid to any of the subtlties of the sport of boxing and nothing to hold my interest.

Whats even worse, is that in single player mode you dont get to develop a career ... there are no come-backs and once your beaten ... its game over. There is no building up a record like the greats, once you lose your boxer retires and its back to square one .... WHAT WERE THE DEVELOPERS THINKING???, dont they understand what boxing is all about, are they that ignorant to what boxing fans actually want. A great career mode is essential for single player part of the game.

A very poor game and a waste of my money. Whether your a boxing fan or not .... avoid this game at all costs.

1 out of 5 stars very poor relation of fight night   June 27, 2008

This is a very poor boxing game with no skill involved at all just another button basher, fight night was an exceptionally skillfull game with an amazing control system this is dire in comparision. The graphics are poor, long delays in relation to pressing control to it having any effect on screen. The so called real players in it have no comparision what so ever to their real life counterparts. Any one who says this is better than fight night is clearly 5 years old or has no skill at all in their gaming hence enjoying this tripe!

3 out of 5 stars Mediocre   June 21, 2008

Nowhere near as good as Fight Night 3, but still enjoyable enough if you're a boxing fan. Has a fair few flaws, like poor collision detection, but it's enjoyable enough, probably worth getting to tide you over till Fight Night 4.

5 out of 5 stars Fight Night loses by TKO   June 18, 2008

This is a different game to the Fight Night Franchise... in this game you actually have to box and use your jab and consider your shots and follow the advice that the corner gives you.

It is possible to circle round the opponent and punch to the side,, step back and drop in a couple of jabs, cover up and throw a straight as your opponent winds up for a signature punch.

A very impressive game with a step learning curve on the buttons and tatics and a nice training side with online ranking

Fight Night is arcady in feel but this game will not disappoint pure pugilism purists.

Training games are challenging and you have to sacrifice training time for Celebrity Events and endorsements etc to raise your media profile to get noticed by different agents etc.

Graphically this game will not challenge Fight Night but the developers have clearly invested in your opponents AI and the feel of making your way up the ranks of your weight class. That being said its not poor graphically and there are a whole host of current boxers and during your career you get to play the part of some classic bouts and rounds that are legend.

As a first stab 2k have acheived a game that is worth your 30 will have great playability and has a good format for multiplayer with your mates on one 360 or online with one on one matches plus an 8 handed tournament event.

I would heartliy recommend this as a playable sports title with depth and live that will sit well in your collection and be fun solo/on-line or with mates and beers

4 out of 5 stars Good boxing game but the graphics could of been better!   June 15, 2008

I got Don Kings Prizefighter on release day from amazon and played it all day yesterday, its a good game once you get to know the controls and I found it alot easier to play than Fight Night but the only let down were the graphics. However theres alot of boxers to choose from and on the extras theres some quality boxing bouts to watch and interviews with different boxers.
All in all its a good boxing game and a great effort from Don King!
