3 out of 5 stars A bit dissapointed really   August 5, 2008

I have been a huge fan of Milestone and have all their bike games, and have been looking forward to this for ages, but after playing SBK 07 on the PS2, I found this to be a bit too lifeless, needless to say I was surprised and dissapointed in it.

The graphics although ok, aren't as good as I was expecting, they are just average for the 360, you'll see a big difference in Moto GP 07 on the Xbox 360.

But the main thing is the handling, it's just so stable and boring it takes away a lot of the freedom that 07 had on the PS2, with that you saw your handlebars swing out when you took bends and you had to get your balance right, it felt like you were on a bike and had freedom and control over it, but with this it just drives like it's on rails, I had the settings exactly the same as with the PS2 version, the only thing this does that gives it any feeling is when the back wheel slides out, which it does a lot if you over accelerate, something they carried over from their Moto GP 07 effort on the PS2, whereas the back wheel didnt slide out on their SBK 07.

Nice cockpit details, lots of options on which view you can choose, and all the riders and all but two of the tracks from this season are included in the game, so its not a bad game, but not a fantastic one either, I rate all their previous bike games higher than this, but let's face it, their previous bike games; Suberbikes World Championship, Superbike 2000, Superbike 2001, Superbike Riding Challenge, Moto GP 07 (PS2 version only), and SBK 07 were all top drawer, this isn't as good as any of those, I don't know if it's a 360 thing and maybe the PS3 version might be better, so just try it and see, its the only SBK game there's ever been on the 360, but just don't expect to be blown away by it.

5 out of 5 stars Always been the best gaming series and remains so   August 5, 2008

Historically the SBK game series started on the PC in 98 and ended in 2001 before resurrection last year with 07 PS variants. Graphically the tracks are gps mapped to perfection so any complaints around this aspect should be ignored. The SBK series has been lovingly nurtured as a simulator unlike the arcadey MOTOGP series which has always been a poor cousin to the SBK games, unlike in real life and the original Microprose GP500 game.

The great thing is you can start with as much assistance as you need and work your way up to the full on simulator style. Unfortunately there isn't a handlebar/foot switch controller option on the market to really do this game the justice it deserves.

Listen ye not to the naysayers, this is the best

4 out of 5 stars Very good bike racer   August 4, 2008

Bought and played this over the weekend and have to say I am rather imrpessed by the game.
I have previously owned moto GP 06 and moto GP 07 and have bought this to fill the time for moto gp 08.
To start with the game is very easy to pick and play but there also many options for the more daring. There is options like quick race and race weekend along with a full championship, time trials and challenges
Graphically the game is very convincing the riders react in a life-like manner and the bikes look very detailed. The AI is superior to Moto GP, and handling is a lot kinder (you can touch the grass without falling off).
To compare it to a moto gp game:
Pro's - better tuning options/more technical detail, realistic AI, easier to handle
Con's - more basic (if more populated) online experience, less tracks, no custom character.

5 out of 5 stars ok what a load of rubbish you talk   August 3, 2008

for a start this game has great visuals, the bikes and riders crap on moto gp 07.ive no idea what the other reviewers are playing but it aint this.either that or there schoolkids.motogp is boring weve had the same game for 8 years come out on the various platforms and its the same dam game, same handling, everything.its starting to get a con,you pay for the same crap every year.at least this game does it properly.great handling, awesome visuals(you just watch the rain on the visor and bikes in cockpit view)it totally makes motogp 07 look second rate.yes moto gp might have a few more trackside objects who cares.sbk 08 is the only game to make me want to get better lap times.motogp 07 sends me to sleep.FOR GODS SAKE DO NOT LISTEN TO SOME OF THESE REVIEWERS WHO CANNOT TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PS1 AND A XBOX 360.YOU CANNOT GET MUCH NICER GRAPHICS AND HANDLING THAN THIS.ID BE TOTALLY ASHAMED PUTTING THIS GAME DOWN,WHY THERE DOING IT GOD ONLY NOS,UTTER SHAMEFUL.

4 out of 5 stars Not bad!   August 3, 2008

I've found this to be a better game than either of the 360 versions of Moto GP. Okay, graphically, Moto GP 07 is a lot better, but to be honest the lack of track detail doesn't detract from the racing. The most annoying thing about Moto GP was the god-awful AI that would knock you off at every corner. Thankfully, that doesn't seem to be an issue with SBK. Overall this is a decent motorbike racer with some realistic sim options for the fanatic. If you enjoyed Moto GP this is worth a go!
