4 out of 5 stars Fantastic Console - Still Reliability Problems   December 2, 2008
I bought an Xbox 360 Elite in June 08, and I have to say that in terms of game variety, graphics and online gameplay and downloads, it does not dissapoint.

I've enjoyed playing games such as GTA IV, Bioshock, Call of Duty and Halo 3 with most games being played to their full potential with xbox live.

The 120GB hard drive is a good investment too, especially as the new xbox update has arrived allowing games to be stored directly on the memory which improves loading times and reduces the noise of the disc drive.

The disc drive itself is noisy when compared to the Wii or Playstation 3 when spinning an xbox 360 disc, but it's not something particularly noticeable when actually playing a game.

The main negative for the console, which many, many people have been having problems with, is the console's reliability. After 5 1/2 months when I went to switch on my xbox it kept flashing 1 red light, saying it had a system error and that I needed to contact xbox customer support. I know about 7 people directly who have an xbox and 6 of them have had at least one problem which has rendered the console useless. I also know a gamer online who states that, "My xbox used to crash once a week, now it crashes every 15 minutes."

I didn't actually contact xbox with the problem, I found that I my xbox had a general hardware failure and I took it back to the store I bought it from the next day. I had the machine swapped and took out 3 years worth of insurance for it with the actual store. If I had contacted microsoft with the problem after my 12 months warrenty then they would have refused to repair or replace it without a 65 payment.

I would recommend that if you are thinking of buying this console then:-

1. Buy it from a reputable source, such as amazon.co.uk or one of the main videogame/electrical stores.

2. Check to see if it is possible to take out insurance on the console with the actual source, preferably for at least 2 years.

3. Look after the receipt. Seriously I do know people that can't take their xbox back to the store they bought it from because they didn't do this.

So all together I would recommend the console, just make sure to have some kind of insurance plan that involves you and the store you buy the console from as they are not built nearly as well as the other consoles available on the market.

5 out of 5 stars How you can get the latest consoles for 5 pounds!!   December 2, 2008
Christmas is coming so save your cash! Why purchase something you can get for 5.

Go to electronicgifts.co.cc and sign up. Complete ONE offer - I would recommend Gala Bingo (you know, the one for on tv),as this is cheap and fun (and you might win some money in the process!)

If you really don't want to spend, there is a free Lovefilm trial.

All companies are well known so there is no risk involved- give it a go! I got my Ipod, consoles and many other things this way, so don't miss out.

I was a sceptic once but now I am SO glad I gave it a chance. B8C approved this system on their a while back.

Many different ipods to choose from and they send your gift for Free.

2 out of 5 stars The PS3 is now better, in every way.   November 28, 2008
I bought myself the X360 as soon as it came out, and despite all the RRoD issues, mine was running perfectly well. And it lasted a pretty long time compared to most. It died 3 months ago. RRoD. So, I decided to buy the Elite, mainly cos of the HDMI. And it's Black and Green! Anyway. It arrived and got it set up and I was playing GOW again, bit of Halo, PGR4, back to my usuall gaming self. And it died within 2 weeks.... 2 WEEKS!! Couldn't sort it out with Microsoft, as there customer service seems non-existant to me atm. I may as well ask my cat to sort it out. I then decided on buying another one, as I just love the games. And that died 1 1/2 months later.

I went round my mates house a few weeks ago, as he bought himself a PS3 and a few new games. Motorstorm 2, Little Big Planet. He's got himself COD: WAW and pre-ordered Resistance 2. The PS3 is awesome for games, for your music, videos, it has Blu-Ray, and it feels like a quality piece of kit, well built, unlike the Xbox. >>> continued in comments

2 out of 5 stars Burnt out and fade away   November 22, 2008

Guys bought this machine about 14 months for my son and just got the three dreaded lights of death! These machines are badly made. Microsoft of course has me over a barrel here as just bought another 100 worth of gear for it for xmas! Had I known I may have tried out the PS3. Yes I know they can be fixed, but in the reliability stakes these machines are pretty much rubbish! Its a pity as they do make great games that look and play well.

4 out of 5 stars Short but Sweet xbox elite vs ps3   October 31, 2008

Brought the xbox elite a couple of days ago and played for a few hours with fable 2. im prety impressed so far. I love the controller its so much better than the ps3. The noise level is high but you do get used to it, however they are bringing out the new dashboard where you can download the games onto the harddrive...and as it is very quiet when not in the game this may work out nicely (as is the case with ps3). Online the xbox wins hands down... i was playing farcry2 on ps3 earlier in the week and online was infuriating!! constantly getting booted off after one game and random disconnections! You cant just play as ps3 game, it has to be installed and what with updates online I sometimes take more time downloading than playing...not good if you have limited time! At least with the xbox you will get a choice as to download to harddrive or not!

If you want to choose the best way is to play both, I was lured in to the ps3 with its next gen boasts but so far no game has really lived up to the promise. The xbox has my vote for now at least!
