3 out of 5 stars The red drum strikes again   January 8, 2009
Well, the kids loved the game - and the adults too. It would have been totally perfect if it weren't for the red drum not working.

After digging around on t'internet, it seems that this is a very common problem. So common, in fact, that Activision have a dedicated support line for it. Actually, so common that there aren't any replacements left anywhere.

The Activision RMA site says "Sorry. Contact the seller." Amazon, to their credit, will replace asap. The problem being that asap is three to six weeks. I also have to find something to package the whole lot up in - as the original packaging got destroyed in the Christmas day excitement.

So, all in all. Not hugely happy at the moment - especially for a 150 game.

5 out of 5 stars Drum Problem   January 2, 2009
I got Guitar Hero World Tour (xbox 360) for Christmas and had a great time on Christmas day strumming away, however on Boxing day the red drum completely stopped working. I attempted to fix the drum using the activision download but this did not work so I am currently waiting for amazon to collect the item and send me out another. There is now a delay on the dispatch though of 4-6 weeks so I'm going to be waiting a while.
The game it's self is great and by the sounds of things my drum problem is a one off but my advice would be to buy from a store where you can return the items immediately so you do not have to wait around should something similar happen again.

1 out of 5 stars Worst sequel since Alien Resurrection...   December 19, 2008

As a fan of Guitar Hero 3, I was expecting good things for the sequel. Seeing the track listing I began to have doubts but then again, there are some quite good songs on the list.

Unfortunately, the majority of songs are not only dull to hear, they're dull to play too. And the songs that are interesting and should have been great suffer from badly assembled track charts, meaning that notes simply weren't timed right (to the point that muting the TV improved performance on some songs). The track listing sounds like it has been selected by an emo sixteen year old with bad taste, to be frank, and it is much worse when you play bland cloned song after bland cloned song.

On top of this, the career mode is rambling, long, and confusing. The difficulty settings appear to be entirely random, with the odd song being easier on hard than medium. I found myself bored of the game before I'd finished a career.

Then there are the boss battles. These are just rubbish, to be honest - you don't really battle properly, you just play an easy part and get a reasonable percentage on it. And you have to fight a really terrible selection of bosses - Ted Nugent? Hayley Williams? Worryingly, these are the best of the bunch.

5 out of 5 stars Stop Complaining   December 13, 2008

I think its funny that the people that have given this game 1 star are only complaining about the price and not the actual game!! This game is amazing.

I have Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour and I can honestly say Guitar hero is better. Much more reactive and challenging than Rock Band 2. Also Guitar Hero World Tour has a better song list !!

Guitar Hero FOR THE WIN!!

1 out of 5 stars Chronic pain in the neck - getting my sons Christmas Present   November 22, 2008

Well what can I say --I am one of the many who ordered before 14th Nov expecting to get a free bass guitar! Trying to get to Amazon and get any help has provided me with 2 hours frustration spent talking on the phone or typing emails to various Amazon addresses. They should be checked out under the Trades Description Act for False advertising - or is it the Guitar Hero site which provides the link with the free Bass Guitar advert that needs the criticism --whichever it is, I hope all other customers who have been disappointed get what they ordered or vouchers to compensate for the hassle we have to go through for our kids Christmas Presents!!
PS Worth hanging in there, as 12 hours later we have now been given a full refund for the missing Bass Guitar -thank you Amazon :)Guitar Hero: World Tour - Band Bundle (Xbox 360)
