A damn fine game January 2, 2009 For me, this game is one of the reasons I bought an Xbox 360 in the first place and I certainly haven't regretted my decision.
For me, this is what a true racing game should be like. Fast cars and good fun. I would say it's neither a true simulator nor an arcade racer along the Need for Speed lines. It is a balance between the two, with the cars' acceleration, looks etc being very true to life but with far more forgiving game play than, say, GT4 or one of the FIA racing games.
For example, on the Nurburgring, you can drive around the corners a lot faster than you would be able to in GT4 but this is not a bad thing, just different. There are about 80 cars in the game and while that doesn't sound too impressive compared to GT4, you get QUALITY cars and I mean QUALITY. Ferraris, Maseratis, Astons, Lotuses, Mercs, Koenigseggs, Lamborghinis, Jags, only the creme de la creme. So, for example, you won't see a Daihatsu Cuore Avanzato R or a Citroen C3.
If you want to race with more run of the mill cars like those, by all means fish out your copy of GT4 (I still love mine to death!) but if you want true performance cars, PGR3 is the game to get it. If you have played PGR4 but think it's not worth getting PGR3, I would say you're wrong! PGR3 has a lot of cars that PGR4 does not have and vice versa.
On a final note, many people compare Forza 2 and PGR with each other and there constant debates about which is better. The area that PGR gets my vote over Forza is the fact that you have in-car view which adds immensely to the driving experience. True, you don't have as many cars to choose from but I think most people would agree that 80 and about 120 vehicles (including bikes in PGR4) is ample. Also, PGR has some real rarities that I haven't seen ANYWHERE else on the Xbox 360 i.e. Lotus GT1, Ford GT90, Ford Indigo Concept, Caparo T1, Gumpert Apollo, SSC Ultimate Aero TT, Aston Martin DBS, Jaguar XJ220 S TWR, etc, etc.
Put your foot down September 3, 2008 This is the first PGR to hit the 360 so its a bit dated now. Hwever, the graphics and sound are very good.
There are plenty of supercars to race and plenty tracks to race on. Most are street circuits. There are difficulty levels to suit everyone and plenty of racing options. The LIVE service is still populated with regular racers. The game includes several variants of the Nordschlieffe and racing around Las Vagas is very pretty. There are some devilish corners in some of the tracks though.
Criticisms? The menu is cumbersome and whilst there is good use of shading, some are like a solar eclipse making it difficult to see where you are going.
This is still a very good choice for racers with plenty medals to be won.

this game is really fun and unique. I think it is clever and good how u get points for exacuting stylish manuvers and get even more when u combo them today. the steering is tricky but so fun when u get it perfect with the rite slide. my only criticism is its a bit short and the oversteer can get soo annoying. and the graphics excellent much better need for speed and burnout. i think u should definatly buy it if u like tricky and fun racing games
project gotham racing? January 4, 2008 Im not sure about this game. The graphics are awesome but you oversteer at every corner and the only difference between the cars is their top speed. I think this game is good for first time players in all car games. I wouldnt reccomend it to experienced gamers. It isnt anything special.
Top Gear!! October 11, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was a huge fan of Metropolis Street Racer on the Dreamcast, so when I found out that PGR3 was in the pipeline I was excited, VERY excited! MSR was unique in the way you were awarded for how you drove, not how fast you drove. PGR3 is everything MSR was and so much more. Everything about this game oozes class. Graphically it's gorgeous! everything from the hands on Big Bens clock face to the gravel on Las Vegas strip is beautiful but it's the gameplay where this game excels. You are actually awarded for how you drive fast, not how fast you drive, and thats what makes this game so brilliantly unique. Drifting your Ferrari around a 90 degree bend and leaving the pack in your own tyre smoke, breathtaking!
