Amazon.co.uk Review
The original Halo was one of that rare breed of games that was so compelling it persuaded millions of people to go out and buy a new console just to play it. Without Halo the Xbox would probably have failed instantly, which gives this long awaited sequel an incredible amount to live up to. So far relatively little has been seen of the game but what has been revealed seems to surpass the original with startling ease.

Widely regarded as the best first-person shoot-'em-up ever made for a home console, Halo 2 follows in its forebear's footsteps with a perfect blend of single and multiplayer action. The former offers far more variety than the first game as the battle is brought to Earth and the incredible advances in the game's AI, as well as just its graphics, become immediately obvious. There are now a lot more friendly troops to help you out and the evil Covenant invaders have become even more organised and intelligent.

In the all-important multiplayer mode, the most significant change is that you can now play the game online on Xbox Live against anyone in the world. This is the feature fans have been clamouring for and it's supplemented by new gameplay features such as the ability to steal vehicles, man fixed gun emplacements and play as the bad guys. If you don't yet own an Xbox, Halo 2 is all the reason you need to change that.--David Jenkins

5 out of 5 stars Another Classic   December 2, 2008
Just finished HALO 2, another classic game.

The story is a continuation from the first game and picks up where Combat Evolved left off. It is pretty much more of the same with a different setting.

The HUD has been tweeked. There are no health packs this time. You have to recharge your shield by ducking for cover. Also, human ammo is a bit scarce so there is more reliance on enemy weapons and vehicles. Some levels you play as the Arbiter, an alien in a parallel storyline that converges at the end. It works quite well though.

The learning curve is perfect. The first half of the game is challenging but about 3/4 through it gets very frantic before calming down before the end. Graphics are still good by todays standard and the sound and music are superb. The live service is pretty decent although a bit slow to set up a game. Still, it is good fun.

If the game is to be criticised, the dark levels are a bit boring trying to find your way around and it does get a bit repetative at times. So did the last one.

Altogether a fine FPS with simple controls and linear progression where all you have to do is run 'n' gun. Jolly good fun though it is.

Highly recommended is you want to check out the complete series as I did.

Roll on HALO 3.

4 out of 5 stars S'Alright   October 25, 2008
Halo 2 obviously did not live up to its hype, with nearly every follower of the halo trilogy deeming it pathetic or even laughable compared to the first Halo. But then again, almost all sequels, prequels whatever are seen as worse then the original, with the exception of the terminator and the godfather and so on. However, its playability is huge, and people continue to play it to this day, a day where Halo 3 is the king of online game-play. I find myself going back to play it, through campaign, on heroic, or legendary if I'm feeling ... progressive. The story may not be brilliant, but there wasn't really a great deal of what exactly the creators could do. Like Alien, the story could easily have been left alone and stood as a classic, where it not for that cheesy yet awesome line "No, I think we're just getting started." But the fans demanded more, and I'm sure Bungie would provide. The feel and setting of the first Halo was truly inspiring, and of course, better then this. however the style is completely different, with more mythical/religious aspects and more interactive surroundings.

The introduction of duel weapons was good and bad, good because it looked great and it was something different. Bad because .. well.. just bad.. (see online) The multiplayer is always great and the LAN capabilities greatly surpass the online gaming. There's not really much to say really.. just its alright.

5 out of 5 stars Halo 2 review   January 17, 2008

In this review I am going to tell you about an Xbox/Pc game called Halo 2. Halo 2 is an exclusive Xbox and pc game not available on any other game consoles. Halo 2 is a game where you are Humans fighting for survival against aliens and parasites. Halo 2 has been rated the best Xbox game for 3 years straight and has one numerous awards. People enjoy this game because it has extremely good graphics and has a very enjoyable storyline also people like this game because it is very interactive and you can play for hours. I like this game because I have played Halo 1 and 2 and the storyline links together to make it more fun and interesting. Another reason why I like this game is because of the graphics, the graphics on Halo 2 are the best from when it was made so you can see nearly perfect detail of everything. In my opinion Halo 2 is one of the best games around. I recommend everyone to buy it.

5 out of 5 stars How do you follow up perfection   January 7, 2008

With a great sequel of course. This game continues the storyline from the first game and expands on it. It is very enjoyable to play single player and multiplayer. This became one of the greatest online multiplayer games of all time not as advanced in tech or graphics as halo 3 but still a good middle game for the trilogy.
The problems with middle games in a trilogy is that they neither start or finish an ongoing storyline so it can't be better than the 1st or 3rd games. BuT if you have any of the halo games you need this game.
