Amazon.co.uk Review The original Driver was one of the most popular and original driving games on the PSone and very much helped to pave the way for Grand Theft Auto III and others. The sequel, however, was a massive disappointment and seemed to prove that the Driver formula could only ever work again on the next generation of consoles. Now finally Driver 3 (or DRIV3R as it insists on calling itself) is here, and although it's not the disaster that the last game was it's still a considerable disappointment. As you would expect from developers Reflections, who also did Stuntman and the original Destruction Derby, the car handling and physics are excellent--perhaps some of the best ever seen. However, the artificial intelligence of your opponent drivers is almost laughably poor and the incredibly detailed graphics, which look so good in the screenshots, come at the expensive of some disappointingly short draw distances, with buildings and backgrounds suddenly popping up as if out of nowhere. The game itself is now very much influenced by Grand Theft Auto and you can get out of your car and hijack other vehicles. DRIV3R is still predominantly mission-based, though, and unfortunately the difficulty curve is still as frustratingly uneven as ever with some missions seemingly almost superhumanly hard. If you're a fan of the series then DRIV3R probably won't disappoint too much, but newcomers to the series may find this has rather more problems than you'd expect from such a heavily hyped title.--David Jenkins

Quite a good game. February 16, 2006 3 out of 10 found this review helpful
I have not played Driver 1 or 2 but I have played this one. The graphics are good but not superb. Sometimes it is hilarious because civilians jump off cliffs and policeman bounce on the hoods of their cars. There are three cities, Miami, Nice and Istanbul. Out of the three Miami is the best. There are lots of stunt opportunities in every city which is good because the cops normally go flying often doing about twenty barrel rolls before landing. There are lots of cheats, such as unlimited amm and invicibility. The mission mode is good but it is very hard. The first mission you have to chase a profilic gangster. The crimes that the gangs commit are co-ordinated by Jericho, the man you're trying to stop in the game. In the last mission you have to chase him, with on the back of a train, while you are in a car. Overall this is a very good game for anybody, especially people who like car chase games.
How bad could the game be? November 6, 2005 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
Well basically i bought Driv3r because i had some spare cash and it was cheap, i now regret that decision and would of rather eaten my own shoe than by it again. This is mainly because the game is what you could call CRAP. If you are looking for a real life role playing game then just buy Grand theft auto San andreas, i garantee that you will love it (i did). the reason i actually gave it 1 star was because the cars are amazing, so good detail and they sound so sweet, and the grafics are good, and when you shoot a car it will ,lweave the bullets holes indented in it, so u can write your name in it and drive around....amazing. But the gameplay is so bad that i doont want to play it for a very long time.
This Game Is Only For Some People July 17, 2005 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
After playing this game, I found that I thoroughly enjoyed this game. But I also understand why some people wouldn't. There is obvious attention to detail into every mode of transportation, the driving is far better than GTA and the crashes are very realistic. The walking is like a first person shooter, where you turn by turning the other joystick. Personally, unlike most, I found it good for this game because of it's usefulness in gun fights. I would reccomend playing the game before buying it to make sure it's the right game for you.
A Solid Game June 10, 2005 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The game Driver 3 was dissapointing to many people because of the expectations. Many people thought it was going to be like the Grand Theft Auto series, full of carnage and destruction. But instead this game places you as a cop, and you have to have a lot of skill to successfully manouevre your car boat, and weapons. The game does provide a mode where you can just roam around and get wanted and stuff, but but a game like GTA for that.
Drive you mad ! January 27, 2005 2 out of 8 found this review helpful
I bought this game two days ago and for once didn't check out the readers reviews on Amazon ( that was my first mistake ) My second of course was buying this lump of rubbish ! I should have known that something was up when even in the initial cut scene the screen stop starts and the characters on the screen walked with an odd type of shuffle ! Once you get in to the game itself, it's so bad it's laughable. On foot the main character , Tanner moves like a spasmodic puppet ! Honestly, I have never seen anything as bad as this on the X-Box or even my old PS 1. If you like driving games you'll hate this because basically the cars are rubbish to drive. Sure you can drive them but their handling characteristics are more akin to a bowl of jelly on wheels than any motor car I have ever seen or driven. This is just a lazy, sloppy mess of a game which I returned and swapped for the Prince Of Persia ; Sands Of Time. A game that is eveything this rubbish isn't - fun, challenging & original. Please DO NOT BUY OR EVEN RENT THIS RUBBISH ! Believe the majority of reviewers here and save yourself some pain !
