Product Description A luscious island paradise might seem suitable for a relaxing holiday, but it also makes an ideal venue for off-road racing. The follow-up to MotorStorm trades the desert for golden beaches and verdant jungles that are as dangerous as they are beautiful.
Amazon.co.uk Review A luscious island paradise might seem suitable for a relaxing holiday, but it also makes an ideal venue for off-road racing. The follow-up to MotorStorm trades the desert for golden beaches and verdant jungles that are as dangerous as they are beautiful. Stopping to admire the scenery is not a good idea | The tracks left by other cars remain for the whole race | The new four player splitscreen mode will be a party favourite | MotorStorm remains one of the PS3’s best looking exclusives | The basic setup of MotorStorm - Pacific Rift is familiar: 16 different drivers behind the wheel of vehicles ranging from monster trucks to speedy motorbikes. Race courses are only loosely laid out, and it’s completely up to you to pick the best route for your vehicle. Take the easy route, and you risk getting shunted off a cliff by your rivals. Or you could risk everything on a more dangerous shortcut. Some may be disappointed that this isn’t much more than a change of scenery from the first game, but when it looks this good, that’s not much of a problem. Key Features - Paradise found: The game offers some of the best graphics on the PS3 with amazing attention to detail, huge courses, and a fully destructible environment.
- Track listing: 16 new courses (twice as many as the original) range from beaches to jungle with rivers, lakes, and even hot lava acting as obstacles.
- Take your pick: Choose from eight types of vehicles, from motorbikes and ATVs to buggies, rally cars, and monster trucks--all of which can be used in the same race.
- Racebook: 16 player online multiplayer features a fully integrated Web service for file sharing and more.
- Split the difference: For the first time the game features a split screen multiplayer mode for up to four people, so you no longer have to be online to play friends.
About the developer: Evolution Studios Nobody can doubt the experience British developer Evolution Studios has with off-road racing games, with five World Rally Championship titles and the best selling PLAYSTATION 3 launch title: MotorStorm. Satellite studio Bigbig is also well known for the Pursuit Force series.

Brilliant January 8, 2009 Got it for christmas and WOW!!! I had seen good reviews so asked for it. Already owning the first one, I recived it and was really happy! Tried it and noticed that you have the same driver for every car, and you can choose your driver. This is great! Main Menu: Ok the main menu's like the last one except you can do much more. You can choose your driver, see your trophies and veicles (you unlock new ones sometimes after doing a number of races or something) in GARAGE, in options you can change the controls and add motion sensitivity (I think you can do these in a race too). Also you can change the music: I heard you can have your own music too but havnt tried that yet. WRECKATION takes you to online (havnt tried it yet soz iv been pretty busy!), split-screen: great fun! You can do up to four player. You can also do free-play, which is where its you on any track against the computer (the same basis as split-screen), and finally (I think) you can do time trial. This is also fun but only tried it once. Solo mode (I forgot what its called) is great. Just in case you don't know in both ones the computers really hard on easy, which makes a great game lasting a long time! I love the detail, like when you accelarate on a motorbike you see your characters hand doing it. Why 4 Stars then? Theres only one thing missing: in Motorstorm one there is the thing where you select your car and if you dont want one car then it drives off the cliff and the next one appears. Thats the only error. Thanks for reading and feel free to leave any comments.
offline good online better. January 8, 2009 great game but the AI in the festival is extremely frustrating. more so than the first motorstorm. really does my head in when you can go into a corner a good 2 - 3 seconds in front of everyone, take it perfect and come out the otherside to be 2 - 3 seconds behind, especially when the computer controlled vehicles have taken a longer slower route. still only 3 races in each zone left to do as soon as they are done i'm never going to play the single player game again. i don't expect realism from the game after all its motorstorm but they could at least have made the AI consistent (try doing a race a full tilt then replay the same race but wait at the start line for 30 seconds to see what i mean).
online however is brilliant. but could do with an eliminator mode.
A must-racer for the Playstation 3 January 4, 2009 I can only back up what others have said... This is a fantastic game that with so many achievements to collect, you'll still be playing in months to come. The graphics are the best I've seen on any console and the handling is incredibly slick. Along with the large quantity of locations and vehicles available, theirs also plenty of variety.
Thumbs Up .................
- The graphics and physics are stunning; every nut and bolt/body work ripple on a crash can be seen - Handling is challenging and very different for each vehicle - Long lifespan and plenty of Trophy's to win
Thumbs Down .....................
- Video ouput still only 720p; like alot of PS3 games - No tutorial for new users - SixAxis functionality is very weak
yep it's another great PS3 exclusive December 31, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
this game has improved from the first one better graphics set out better and has trophy's to earn :D
Amazing... December 29, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This game is absolutely more intense more fun and more brutal than the first game so if you enjoyed motorstorm, pacific rift won't disappoint with new lush environments, amazing graphics and crash physics.
