Amazon.co.uk Review If you’ve been concerned that the new generation of consoles has had relatively little in the way of new ideas, then LittleBigPlanet should be the game to restore you faith. It’s difficult to describe properly, which is a good thing, because it means it’s very different from the norm. Peculiar machines like this are the norm in LittleBigPlanet | Although combat is a minor part of the game, there are some huge bosses | Creating your own levels from scratch is as easy as playing them | Objects can be made out of anything from wood to sponge, metal, and felt | Amazing graphics bring the world of the main character, known as Sackboy, and his fabric-coated pals to life with realistic physics and a stunning level of detail. Played with friends it’s a great puzzle adventure, as you co-operate and compete across each level. The game’s trump card though is its customisation, not just the characters themselves but the whole game. It’s extremely easy to create your own levels, and the best fun is had simply setting up areas for mucking around and then sharing them online with other people. Key Features - Unreal reality: There’s never been a game that looks like this, with ultra cute characters but realistically modelled physics and materials from wood to sponge.
- Co-op fun: Co-operate with up to three friends, as you run, jump, and swing around each level and overcome the cunning puzzles and dangerous enemies.
- Everything changes: Every single element of the game is fully customisable from your player character to each of the levels and all of the objects within them.
- Mad scientist: Create your own unique levels and change the properties of any objects to make Sackboy mincing traps or huge machines that can move whole levels.
- Eye see you: Use the EyeToy camera to further customise your game with special stickers that allow you to add your own photos to any level.
About the Developer: Media Molecule After working on games such as Black & White and Fable, a group of ex-Lionhead Studios employees formed Media Molecule. The Guildford-based studio rose to frame through the independently produced Rag Doll Kung Fu, but their first retail game is LittleBigPlanet.

Do you own a ps3? Then please do yourself a favour! January 5, 2009 This game gets 5 stars for several reasons the first being its cost! I paid 40 on release for this and that was well worth it! At under 20 this is an absolute steal!
The funny thing about this game is - the longer its been out - the more there is to do! Sony have released some great add ons already and in addition to this the LBP commuinty has produced some simply breathtaking levels that were not available on launch!
Immense fun in multiplayer and a great way to meet people over PSN!
PlayStation Perfection January 5, 2009 Well I've been wanting this game for a long time now. I didnt ask for it for christmas since I was only aloud 3 games and they were CoD5, Resistance 2 and Mirrors Edge. I thought they would all be better than LittleBigPlanet but oh was I wrong. I bought it a few days after christmas with my money and I got addicted immidiately to it.
Well 1st of the gameplay. A platformer that has so much too it. I never thought I would see the day. When I started playing the Story mode, It was fun and very funny. It wasnt easy or hard, just right.
Online community is one of the highlights. Play other peoples created maps and let people play yours. This game is definitly the best game on PS3 and probaly the best game out there.
If you own a PS3, I suggest you go down to your local game store and buy this now!
If you dont, then buy a PS3 just to get this and trust me it would be worth it.
Thank You Amazon!!! January 5, 2009 Firstly, I never would have bought this game were it not for the fact that Amazon had it on offer for 17 - seemed like a no-lose situation so I went for it!
You have to finish the first 3 Worlds before LBP's online world is accessible, but once you do it's fantastic and really adds longevity to the game.
The controls can be a little frustrating, especially jumping in and out of the 3 'depths' of screen - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't!!
I also think it's a bit cheeky of Sony to sell outfits for 1.60 a pop and extra levels for 4-5 but I guess you don't have to buy them unless you are a completist...!
I designed my first level after having the game for 5 days (check out JOT381 if you fancy a play!) and it took about 8 hours (most of which was tweaking for gameplay) but I am pleased with it. Some online levels are immensely impressive and must have taken DAYS to do, but it certainly gets easier with practice.
The game itself is an enjoyable platformer, but it's the creativity that really sells it to me. I heard all the hype before release and read the rave reviews, but I still wasn't prepared to chance 40 on something that cannot really be explained until you play it.
So, I thank you Amazon, even if my wife doesn't as it has made her a PS3 Widow!!! :)
Mario meets Myspace... January 5, 2009 LittleBigPlanet (PS3)
Lets cut straight to the chase...
Little Big Planet is essentially a platform based PS3 game - same controls, same gameplay, same look and feel of countless platform games that have gone before. That said, the visuals in the game are stunning! Everything in the game from it's vivid colour palette and highly detailed textures, right down to the accurate physical properties of all the objects you interact with, make LBP a unique gaming experience in itself.
What makes Little Big Planet really stand out from the crowd is where we (the gamers) come in! Players can customise not only their character but entire levels which can then be shared online with the rest of the planet. Anything and everything can be used to create your very own LBP masterpiece... LBP merely provides you with the tools to do so!
Simply trawling through the countless random levels created by other players is an experience in itself...
Great stuff!
Limitless entertainment!
Buy it and try it!!!
Family fun - Just what the PS3 needs! January 4, 2009 I thought about doing one my extensive reviews, but given the sheer amount of positive feedback already I'll save burning my fingers away... All I can say is that you own a PS3 or are thinking of buying one, this is the game that everyone can play.
Their's no hidden agenda about it. You simply play as 'sack-boy'; your own rather sweet customisable character and through solving puzzles and collecting extra items, you must make your way from one side of a level to another.
The longetivity is extraordinary. Not only are their hundreds of achievements to complete, but their are levels you can complete from online (created by other users) which you can also upload... And not everything can be achieved through single player - a second player is required to get many of the extra items.
It's not often these day's I highly rate games, but LittleBigPlanet is so refreshing in an era where few gamers are satisfied or appreciate the technology involved. And with this in mind, LittleBigPlanets charm comes from being so simple, as apposed to complex and fighting to look realistic.
9/10
