Nearly a rip-off... June 10, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought (and reviewed) the Prima guide for GT3 so was expecting a similar guide, with the same strengths and weaknesses, but for Forza. However, I was greatly disappointed: this Prima guide is nearly rubbish.
I can live with the fact that it doesn't list all the cars - annoying, but manageable - but I really dislike the format that this list employs: It uses a 'marks out of ten' dashboard clock graphic for 'Speed' for instance, so a 2003 Nissan Skyline has a speed of '5.8' !) The only other useful sections in the book are 'Appendix 1: Car Stats' & perhaps 'IV: Rewards and Unlocks'. Although the cars are listed in the first appendix by Class, Drive Train, Power, Speed and Torque, they are not listed here by manufacturer! Hopeless.
And then there is the 'Career Mode: Race Events' poster. A Poster! Am I supposed to pin it up to the lounge wall, next to the telly? And if I did, I'd have to get up out of the sofa to go and read the wall every time I needed to check each event's details. Ridiculous. And in this listing of all the races, there is no listing of which tracks you race in each championship (unlike the Prima GT3 guide).
While this guide has some useful information, even what it has is flawed or omits important data. I want a reference book, not a comic. As I said, this title is hopeless.
