Amazon.co.uk Review
Who'd have thought that the exploits of a secret agent could be so underwhelming? 007: Agent Under Fire isn't exactly boring--in fact, the first time you play you're sure to be impressed by the suave looks and immaculate presentation.

But it soon becomes clear that this is no sophisticated vintage Bond homage. It's merely a fleetingly entertaining blast that just happens to feature some British spy dude.

That isn't to say that there aren't enjoyable elements here. There are a couple of Crazy-Taxi-influenced levels that work well, as well as some mildly diverting "on-rails" shooter stages. At heart, though, like the N64 masterpiece GoldenEye, this is a first-person shooter, and one that suffers badly in comparison.

The game features some clever gadgets, as well as frequent set pieces in the form of "Bond moves" that will delight the casual fan. But more experienced players will find the lack of depth here distressing. The real problem is the "intelligence" of the enemies. These are the dumbest bad guys you'll ever encounter in a video game.

Coupled with the unerring accuracy of your auto aim, you could complete much of the game blindfolded. Consequently, it's difficult to feel much satisfaction, even upon saving the world. The developers have at least made an effort by providing different styles of play and a decent multiplayer mode, but 007: Agent Under Fire is (at best) an adequate game in a genre full of great alternatives. Be careful with your next Bond license, Mr. EA--it may be your last. --Steve Colton

this game is ok but isnt nearly as good as nightfire. the missions aren't very good and the multiplayer gets boring after a while. just rent it!

2 out of 5 stars VERY AVERAGE.   July 26, 2002

This game was such a disappointment after playing through Halo.
It feels as though this game was rushed out with sub standard quality control. The graphics are very average, hardly taxing for the XBOX, it's hardly any improvement over the N64 Classic Goldeneye. It's far too easy, I completed it in a couple of hours, almost every level was completed first try. There's far too much loading going on, compared to Halo, the level loading is painful. Overall, I wish I'd rented the game instead of buying it. If you want Bond, buy Goldeneye and an N64 (it's much better) and if you want a great FPS, go buy Halo. DOn't waste your money on this game, it's not deserving of the XBOX.

5 out of 5 stars Action-packed GREAT GAME!   July 25, 2002

The first time I played this game I did`nt really seem to know what was going on but as I started to get used to it I could`nt put the gamepad down. this game is defenitly worthit. Its got great car chases, you even get to drive a tank and an under-sea roller coaster. Great gagdets and great to play with your firends. Its the kind of game everyone needs to have.

I got this game on the stregnth of goldeneye on the N64. What a great game that was. The game play was fast if you wanted it to be, but you could also slow it down, and play tactically.
The graphics on the x box version are superb, and the game play very good, but the only thing that lets it down is the way you aim.
With goldeneye you could pin point aim, which agent under fire tries to do, but some how it doesnt work as well. Also you have the ability on the x box to auto aim so all you have to do point in the general direction and press the trigger, which takes some of the fun out of it.
This is a good game but could have been made better

4 out of 5 stars Great game but No goldeneye   June 26, 2002

I bought this game wanting a new FPS for my Box and I am very happy. I was expecting a new and better version of the old Goldeneye for the N64 but this game doesnt quite deliver in that department.
It is however a great game. The cut scenes are humrous and very much in the Bond style. The weaopons and gadgets are great there are lots of gadgets to get used to.
I like the way the game has rewards which gives you the incentive to try again and again at all the games levels.
I wish the targeting of weapons was a little better as it is very hit and miss, but I can live with that.

All in all great game and good fun with a few minor flaws. You get to drive cras tanks and all sorts.
