Amazon.co.uk Review Up to now The Simpsons games have been nothing if not consistent: they've all been completely rubbish. However, The Simpsons: Hit & Run thankfully breaks this 100 per cent record, and although it's hardly a classic in its own right it's just the thing for fans who want to worship their favourite characters through the medium of the joypad. Like many of the more recent Simpsons games Hit & Run is primarily a racing game--a racing game that's very obviously using Grand Theft Auto as its primary inspiration. There's less swearing and gore but just as much running people over and driving lots of different vehicles. You can't steal them off the street, admittedly, and the missions are presented in a much more linear fashion, but otherwise this is GTA: Springfield through and through. Somewhat embarrassingly for GTA the on-the-foot sections are actually handled rather better than Rockstar's game, with a fairly non-rubbish camera and a decent control system that actually makes the occasional platform sections rather fun. Most of the game is about driving, though, whether it be racing Principle Skinner to school in order to give Lisa her homework or helping Bart buy some illegal fireworks from around town. It's only when controlling underage characters like Bart that the game's concept really starts to seem peculiar (he only drives unmotorised vehicles) but otherwise the addition of all the proper voice actors from the TV show make this the first Simpsons game ever that is in any way worthy of a purchase. --David Jenkins

Good kids game- very repetitive August 29, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
PROS: +This is a typical non-violent young children game (age 7-11) and has done well in hitting that target. +The missions are great fun and exploring is good too, to start off with. +There are a great range of cars to earn, buy and collect! You can get into any car on the street. + All the charectors are there and the storyline is great if a little unrealistic! +This game has very good, funny in game comments from the Charector your control + It is easy to control your charector as there are no gear changes. +When you get bored you can have great car chases with police by running people over ( they never die!) CONS: -Very repetitive and graphics often dodgy! (Can walk through supposedly solid objects) -The area you can explore is very small and restrictive. (although well designed) -The races are very hard to complete and when you've seen one, you've seen them all! -Missions are very SAMEY samey. -There are about 4 types of cars on the street on each level OVERALL: =Well you've seen the Pros and Cons, and its your choice, but although the Cons outweigh the pros, at 6 you cant really go wrong!
You what? Better than GTA? No way March 3, 2004 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
Unquestionnably the most enjoyable Simpsons jaunt in the gaming world, Hit and Run offers seven levels of humour, some adventure but very little adrenaline. There is plenty to explore, particularly for fans of the programme who will appreciate the innumerably touhes the creators have added, however where this game falls down is that the missions are extremely repetitive and at times highly frustrating. Graphics are reasonable, gameplay is limited and I would not say there is any re-play value. All in all a fair purchase for the Avid Simpsons fan but steer clear if your looking for some excitement and adrenaline.
Good game, but with flaws. February 10, 2004 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
First off, there is no denying that this is the best simpson's game ever made but it would be a crime to even compare to the GTA series. You could say that this is a kids version of the controversial series but still is a game worth buying if you like the cartoon. The missions aren't exactly hard and are extremely repetitive with racing to certain areas being the bulk of the missions. But this is made up by the comedy factor that the game has with you being able to find secrets reminding you of the classic episodes. The graphics are ok but nothing to shout about. On the plus side the game has loads to do and will take a while to fully complete 100%, but i doubt you will play the game after you complete it so the replay value isn't there, which is a huge factor for me when buying new games. All in all a game definately worth buying if you enjoy the cartoon but don't buy the game on what other people say, i suggest you play it before you buy it.
Fantastic!!! February 7, 2004 3 out of 10 found this review helpful
THIS GAME IS FANSTASTIC - SO MUCH FUN. THIS IS ONE OF THOSE GAMES THAT YOU WILL NEVER STOP COMING BACK TO. THERE ARE SO MANY DIFFERENT BRILLIANT CARS THAT YOU UNLOCK THROUGOUT THE GAME AND CAN ACCESS FROM THE 'PHONE BOXES' IN EVERY LEVEL. THE VOICES ARE ALL REAL AND THE MISSONS ARE VERY ENTERTAINING. THE LEVELS ARE EXTREMELY REALISTIC AND THE GRAPHICS ARE FANTASTIC. THIS PERFECT AS A NON VIOLENT GTA. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - GREAT FUN! BUY IT FOR ANY SIMPSONS FAN.
Brilliant!!!!!!!! January 22, 2004 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
The simpsons game is just the best and it is even better than Grand Theft Auto. The graphics are brill, the levels in the game all have a different car and it is a good game to keep kids occupied for hours!!!!
