WAY too hard April 25, 2008 unless you are really awesome at shooters, its just too hard. one or two hits and you're dead! im still on the second mission and ive been trying it for 2 weeks! its just frustrating. it had such potential...
Not realistic but multiplayer excellent August 18, 2005 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This game is purely not realistic. Yes all the glossy weapons and gear look authentic enough but the gameplay is terrible. I'm moving, in the prone position (lying down), moving slowly in a dense wood at night. The enemy is a good 30m away and all of a sudden they start shooting, not only shooting but hitting me!! What is this game on? The enemy don't even have fancy guns or night vision how can they possibly see me. Secondly the nemy troops are as good as you. They take about 2 or 3 hits to go down. This is alright in enclosed spaces like we saw in rainbow 6 but in a massive jungle its impossible. They come at you from all angles even if you've just been where they came from. All this coupled with the fact that your squad is expected to kill around 100 men each mission!! Thirdly the missions you are set are similar to those of a normal infantryman platoon or possible a navy seals unit (20 men). Not those of a covert squad of lightly armoured troops. The real ghosts would be able to call in fighter bombers and artillery strikes anywhere they wanted. So this game is confused as to what it wants to be. It tries to be a stealth shooter game but contradicts itself with the linear warfare missions and poor A.I of your squad. The enemies are very good so this loses the realism and my attention to this game. However multiplayer is excellent because of the fact that your mates cannot see you in a forest at night while your lying down! Also the intensity of the game increases. So in conclusion the game features Squad based combat 4 men Full range of weaponry available to the ghosts Excellent multiplayer 11 missions more suited to medal of honour Poor team A.I Enemies who are superhuman No understanding of the true sghosts whatsoever it appears, thats even if the ghost exist? Buy this game at your peril- rainbow 6 much better
Great, but could have been better August 17, 2005 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this game, best game on the Xbox, but the squad AI is inconsistent, many a time, while under enemy fire, your men get shot to pieces, or you get shot, due to fact the squad are to busy counting the toes on their feet, rather than noticing that the enemy are right on top of them, I`d also like to use any weapon anytime, and hiding in wait, is a waste of time, it could be the darkest night, and the enemy have no NVG, but they`ll see you just as quick as you see them, a bit more realism would make the game amazing.
Mixed success August 4, 2005 I really liked the first GR and had it on PC and Xbox. I have to say I think GR 2 is worse. The single player game is pretty awful, with amazingly bad AI who wander into your sights, barely flinch when they get shot, and have no concept of defense or using cover. A shame when compared to the fantastic AI of ubisofts other squad shooter Brothers in Arms. Also the guns are all too samey, with no real variation in damage or handling within different guns classes. What this game really misses is that feeling of the shotss doing real damage as they hit the enemy, the kind of warm feeling you got from May Payne, Call of Duty and Goldeneye. Also you never have the full selection of guns at your disposal between missions, so despite comleting the game I can't get to use the G36 rifle. You do in the multiplayer however, and thats where GR 2 excels. The multiplayer I feel is better than Halo 2, as it cuts a good mix between blasting and stealth. There are also a number of significant update packs availible on Xbox Live, so you get quite good value out of this game. But if you want a realistic squad shooter get Brothers in Arms, which is better in almost every respect.
ghost recon 2 June 6, 2005 one of the best army games around, the only problem is you really need to be online to get the full benifits out of it. the lighting and graphics are sweet, pity theres no blood though cos that would have made a more realistic war,but never mind still a good game
