Got To Be One Of The Best Fighting Games I've Seen Around To Date!! October 29, 2007 I'm not the greatest fan in fighting games but apart from WWE/WWF, I think what we have here, is one of the best fighting games money can buy in all!
Def Jam: Fight For New York is the sequel to Def Jam: Vendetta. However, this is the first Def Jam game for the Microsoft XBox Video Game Console, because Def Jam: Vendetta was not released for Microsoft XBox!
I already owned the Playstation 2 Version of this game as I got that for Christmas, but when I got my XBox in 2006 and WHSmith was doing an XBox Clearout Sale, this game was on offer for just about 6 so I decided to get it, even though I already had it for Playstation 2!
In Def Jam 2: Fight For New York, you pick up from where you left off in Vendetta. After D-Mob's loss, the Police Crew arrest D-Mob and take him away in a Police Jeep, unaware that another vehicle collides with this Jeep, knocking it over, which allows the impostor (which is you), to take D-Mob and make a getaway! This is the chance where you can create your very own character and take him out into a wild fighting adventure. D-Mob thanks you for your rescue efforts by letting you join in his club, provide you training, money, and a place to stay for as long as you need! After all that palaver, you then set about and travel through clubs and attractive places to take on wrestlers, rappers and other willing challengers who think that can easily tear you apart. By winning matches, you earn cash, strength, and points, which allow you to earn special trophies, unlock arenas and secret characters. But a evil villain named Crow (Rapper Snoop Dogg) whom is in charge of D-Mob's rival club lies at the top of all. And all that Crow is waiting for, is the night in his Office to take out the very person (you) himself!
Creating your character isn't as easy as pie, unless you know what he looks like. For me, I like to create a person who mostly looks 99% like me! Expect for the fact that I have to imagine that I'm 30 years old and born in 1977, instead of my present age at 20. Unfortunately for female gamers, you cannot create a female character for Story Mode, but you can use some of the female characters provided in the game!
As well as the Story Mode, you can bring along friends as well and challenge them in Battle or Team Battle in various arenas! There's a lot of fun in this game which in my personal opinion, makes Def Jam: Fight For New York probably one of the most successful Def Jam games so far!
My Personal Game Score: 9.9/10: Too Good, Too Brilliant, Too Close For A Fantastic 10/10 Score
My Wish: The XBox Version gives out faster loading time and up to 4-Players to play with or against each other in Battle Mode! But the XBox Version does tend to damage the disk, so I do wish a slight fix in this minor situation!
Final Comments: If you're after a fighting game other than WWE and a game, which allows you to learn the natures of the Hip-Hop and Rapping Music Industry, then this is the game for you! But if these aren't the two options then overall, it is a very good game and highly recommended!

The Best Fighting Game on the X-box November 21, 2004 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
I've never been a HUGE fan of fighting games on the X-box i wasnt as swept away with soul calibur 2 as everyone else seemed to be so i was a little skeptical when my little bro dumped Def-Jam on my desk and spouted a glowing review of the game.. i dont even like rap/hip-hop/whatever else sort of music scene the games characters are all from (although i did recognise Henry Rollins, Rock on Mr R!!). The game quite frankly blew me away, it has a decent story line a lot of character customisation a fantastic "campaign" mode and a brillant combat system, Gone are the days where your button bashing mate beats you at the game out of sheer luck, this games got a lot of strategy in it and its that that put it above the rest. You first of all pick your characters look from a police line up, you dress him, bling him up to the hilt, tattoo him.. its kinda like the beat em ups "need for speed: underground". Second of all you get into the fights, and these rock.. its an ace game right up till the end and you WILL go back for more just so you can have a character with all the trophys that are available.. I recommend this to anyone, its excellent in single player and its excellent in multi player..
God Dam Def Jam!!! November 9, 2004 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Make no mistake this is the best beat-'em-up ever!!! If your like me and a fan of the old WCW vs NWO or WWF games on the N64, your gonna love this. If your not them your gonna love just as much. This game not only has nearly all the biggest Hip Hop stars of the moment (and Bubba Sparxxx, lol)in it, and some of the most jaw dropping graphics on the xbox (makes halo look like pac-man!) it is also just so easy to play. My mum could play this game. But dont comfuse easy game play for an easy game, cause this will have you picking the controller of the floor. Its worth the price alone just to see Sean Paul get turned into a bloody mess.
The best fighting game for the X box October 13, 2004 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
This game has it all. You can play as a rapper, thug or yourself and go round beating the s*^t out of everyone. There are matches where you have to throw people in front of trains, against their cars to smash them and the car up, set people on fire and even throw them out of a 3rd story window. There are countless weapons to use, in which I reckon is the most violent game on the x box at the mo. This game is way way better than Def Jam Vendetta. What more could you ask for, a fighting game with today's biggest stars, loads of clothes and bling from Jacob and you get to have Carmen Electra as your girl. What you still reading this for..... Get ya ass out there and buy it....NOW!!!!
