Where's Foley? July 19, 2008 This was the first 'Conflict' game I bought/played and got it for the princely sum of 2.38,I liked the demo but sadly that didn't show the holes up that protracted play can. The game is identical to the first three except that the (overly)generous auto-aim has been scaled down/removed,the commands are virtually the same albeit shuffled round the pad a bit,the graphics on the other hand are markedly improved with good crisp textures and solid looking scenery. There is some overuse of the 'night vision' though, having to play through green levels is a bit annoying and the thermal vision is all but useless save for a couple of instances. The A.I is competent for the most part although enemies will regularly run past you to 'hot-spots',team A.I is good although a few ocassions saw someone throwing a grenade in a cramped room! What's wrong with it?,well one major flaw is the amount of enemies,it doesn't become apparent till about the third(of fourteen)missions, you will regularly be shot from behind by enemies coming from previously cleared/blocked off rooms and the amount of times some of them re-spawn leads to bodycounts similar to Dynasty Warriors, the upshot is that your team get promoted quicker, not that it seemed to make any differnce to their behaviour. This re-spawning ruins the game and makes using claymores etc pointless as enemies will just carry on coming anyway until you've reached the next hot-spot/objective, This leads to the other major flaw, saving, you are given six saves on easy and since all but one of the missions regularly top an hours play this combined with the countless enemies, occasionally duff aiming and A.I means you will be reloading often,I've finished it three times now but only with the 'infinite saves'cheat as it is frankly unplayable otherwise, unless you are clairvoyant! And just what happened to Foley!!!
good, but not good enough. August 27, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
ive played all the conflicts now, and it has been a good game to play. tough at times, and needs to be played realistically with 4 players other wise its very hard to achieve a good outcome without heavy casualtys. i have to say that it was good to see that new guns and options where available here, but it just didn't impress me all that much as the first 2 did. i would strongly recomend this game to people who will play it as a 4 player, but any less and its not going to give u your moneys worth.
Thoroughly enjoyable October 20, 2005 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is the first conflict game that I have purchased, having played the other titles this was the first one that after trying a demo I decided I must have. Improved graphics, simplified control systems, and a bit of hollywood style sheen, mixed with a Clancy-esque plot are the games finer points. The only thing holding it back from a 5 pointer was the way you kind of got ferried through each level with no real scope for attempting mission objectives in different orders, or from a replay point of view attempting new tactics. All in all though, thoroughly enjoyable and quite tough which is good.
Slightly disappointed October 13, 2005 1 out of 8 found this review helpful
After playing the other titles in the Conflict series, I eagerly awaited the release of the latest offering, to be thrown into despair. Whilst the game play is outstanding, i've found that the games creators have gone a bit too "AMERICAN" in format, hence only getting 3 stars and not the full 5 which it truly deserves
