slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww down!! March 30, 2008 Slow down and i mean that graphicly wise,
This game has very bad lag and stuters alot when too much is happening on screen.
Not only that but the amount of online games to be played is very low out of 10 times i tryed to find a ranked games i found 1, and then the server dropd out! so thats very poor for the gamerscore as theirs about 400G for online achievements.
These point aside the one player game/story mode is very very good and well worth the 10 i paid for it, just as good as other 10 games out their such as far cry I/P and pray...... addvise buy but be calm if it crashes, thanks
LOADING... January 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This IS a good game but the beef i have with it are the loading times and the graphics, which are ok...ish.
Gameplaywise, this is an ace game, the cinematics are good but some of the graphics when your playing are abit iffy, most of the time its fairly dark and hard to see whats going on, the enemies are quite undetailed and they make really annoying noises. I like the bonus disc you get with the game, tells you how the game was made, it has some trailers and quake 2 which is even slower to load and much worse graphics but its older, it was a nice thought to add it on the extra disc.
I'd give this game: 6/10 graphics...nowhere near as nice as halo 3 9/10 gameplay 7/10 gamer-game interaction Havn't tried playing it on xbox live, i would imagine it is very good thoug, i might edit this review when i get xbox live and rate it on that :)
As its a fairly cheap game and i would recommend it, i got mine for 11 delivered, so if you can get it for about a tenner then do! Thanks for reading :)
Just A Couple Of Months To Late To Be A Hit October 20, 2007 What with the delays and time taken on the game you could be forgiven for expecting something new hi-tech and impressive, unfortunatly, no. Quake 4 seems more of a game created with love to start with but progressed badly and was then shoved onto the market with the stamp "Yeah sorry we probabily should'nt have bothered". Bad controls, lagging gameplay, detestable from A to B mind rot and degenerating story.
Quake 4 is'nt all that bad for some fun and for the price its at now at I think its very fair. There are some demented visuals set inside a giant living machine complete with organ/gears and fluid/veins. I advise this if your a fan of industrial-music or liked the remake of DOOM.
One of the best first person shooters in the last few years June 7, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Quake 4 is something of an oddity in greater scheme of things, part of ID's recent comeback that began with the mediocre "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" and peaked with the phenomenal Doom 3. Quake 4 almost slipped under the radar, developed outside of ID (by the excellent Raven Software) and attempting to to ignore Quake III: Arena somewhat; Quake 4 continues the story from Quake II and picks it up seamlessly. If you've played Doom 3 then the first thing you're likely to notice is that the games are incredibly similar. The visual similarities extend to almost identical armour for the marines in both games, similar looking weapons and very similar environments. However, when the game is played further the differences become clear. Firstly, the focus of quake is not to frighten but to excite. The game is far more action based and many of the situations involve blasting away while looking for the next facility to destroy. These sections are carried by an excellent plot conveyed by the marines accompanying you. These marines all have names, ranks, roles and personalities; most significantly the techie Strauss who progresses from being a pain in the neck to a truly loveable character. The player is also given some wonderful, though frequently spolit plot twists than really absorb the player in the game. As for gameplay, it is a strong FPS with responsive controls, a good selection of weapons and some truly excellent level design. The only drawbacks are the rare but still intrusive tank levels intended solely to compete with Halo. Furthermore, the multiplayer on this game is incredibly fun, it does have its drawbacks. It appears to be short of maps and no bots are included. You're required to find all the players and this can be quite a struggle as the game was something of a led balloon on the 360.
If you enjoyed Doom 3, like first person shooters and games with a good balance between action and plot then this game is worth a look.
Its not halo, and I dont care March 12, 2007 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I really like this game, its unpretensious alien shooting at its almost finest. Okay the vehicular bits aren't too great but the rest of the game is great and easily replayable. Halo is very much fast and frantic action with multiple weaker enemies and one or two dangerous ones, in Quake all the enemies are a serious threat.
