Amazon.co.uk Review: In a nutshell: Tiger Woods returns and in better form than his recent Ryder Cup letdown, with a whole host of refinements and additions (and the odd subtraction) to the winning PGA Tour formula. The lowdown: The problem with updating a golf game every year is that, unlike most other sports, nothing much changes in terms of players or courses. Despite that, this update tries its best with new courses, new golfers, an expanded online mode and an even better create-a-golfer mode. The only downside to all this is that the main "Rivals" single player mode from last year's game has gone, replaced with the inferior "Team Tour" mode. It doesn't affect the selection of other modes though, including new options "Elimination" and "OneBall" and the four player "Bloodsome and Greensome". It may not reinvent the wheel but it does at least add some very welcome decoration to it - and thankfully not in the style of most golf clothing. Most exciting moment: The best bit about PGA Tour is still its simple and accessible controls. There are two main controls, the first uses the left analogue stick to swing and set the power and the right aims where you hit the ball. The alternative control places the hook and slice on the right stick, if that's how you prefer it. Since you ask: The Xbox 360 version of the game became infamous as the first game to allow you to unlock the extra features by paying money via micro-transactions on Xbox Live Marketplace. You can, however, still unlock them the honest way on all the different versions. The bottom line: A minor update to the world's favourite golf game. -HARRISON DENT

golf sim at its best September 15, 2008 having had an xbox for some time it never got much playing time but having heard about tiger woods from friends i decided to give it a whirl, the game is just ridiclously complex have never played anything with such attention to detail to start with creating your player is so detailed you can have him as yourself hair build the lot.the courses are out of this world especially the fantasy ones the only down side is that there are a few bugs for eg driving into the water and then findind youself on the edge of the green, but its minor which is why it deserves the full 5 forget the rest and buy the best that is t woods
So far so good.... May 13, 2007 I've only played this game a few times but so far its seems quite good. There are a greater variety of games to play, compared to the 2005 version so I would say it has improved. I agree with the previous review which refers to the odd camera angles. This is particularly irritating when you have driven a shot and put spin on it, the camera spins round so that you can see it land in relation to the position of the pin but you lose the ability to see what the impact of the spin was. The pro shop is much harder to use and is definately not as good as it was on the 2005 version. Overall fairly entertaining if you only play occasionally like I do but for serious gamers I consider the game could lose its attraction very quickly.
Brilliant! October 18, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I don't know why there are complaints about this game because I purchased the 2005 version and I feel that this game is similar but improved further. I don't see how the 2005 version is better. I am certainly addicted to this game, there is plenty to keep you going. If you're a golf fan, or just like golf games, you'll love this!
What a disappointment September 24, 2006 3 out of 10 found this review helpful
I love Tiger Woods 2004 and 2005 games. Didn't buy the 2006 - which could account for why I don't like this game. I am comparing this to the 2005 version. It does not have the playability, it is more difficult to judge shots and the results are very random. It is harder and more of a faff to customise your players. It may just be my version but it has glitches galore - going for eagle on one hole, I putted in only to be told I was out of bounds and was penalised! When putting the game seems to judder. There are some strange camera angles which make me feel dizzy! We are taking it back to the shop tomorrow. We so looked forward to this one and feel really disappointed with it.
